Fireplace Replacement
In Watertown, NY
From the fireplace unit and venting to the chimney work and finished surround, Kronquist handles complete factory-built fireplace systems.

Signs Your Factory-Built Fireplace May Need Replacement
If your factory-built fireplace is older, rusted, unused, or questionable, Kronquist can inspect the system and help you decide whether repair or replacement makes sense.
Rusted Or Corroded Firebox
Older factory-built fireplaces can develop rust or corrosion inside the firebox, especially after years of use.
Rusted or Failing Chimney Pipe
If the chimney pipe is rusted, degraded, or venting incorrectly, the fireplace likely needs replacement.
Cracked Refractory Panels
The brick-look panels inside the firebox help protect from heat. When they crack or deteriorate, they need replacement.
A Fireplace You Don’t Trust To Use
If the fireplace has been sitting unused for years because you are not sure you trust it, it's time to inspect the system.

Frequently Asked Questions: Factory Built Fireplaces
What you need to know before we start your installation
It's a manufactured fireplace system with a metal firebox and venting, often built into wood framing and finished with stone, tile, or another facade.
Many homes from the 70s, 80s, and 90s have them, and they can look like a regular fireplace once finished. We can identify the system during an inspection or consultation.
Many older units are reaching the age where the firebox, chimney pipe, chase, or surrounding materials need attention. Replacement may be the right move when the system is outdated or deteriorated.
A factory-built fireplace is a manufactured system with a metal firebox and chimney pipe, usually built into framing and finished with brick, stone, tile, or another facade. A traditional masonry fireplace is built from masonry materials as the actual firebox and chimney structure. They can look similar from the room, but they are very different systems behind the finish.
Refractory panels are the brick-look panels on the sidewalls and back of the firebox. They help insulate the combustible materials around the fireplace from heat. When they crack or deteriorate, the system can become a higher fire risk and should be inspected.
